Sapporo Black Label
Brewed by: Sapporo Breweries Ltd., Ebisu, Shibuya, Tokyo
Style: Japanese rice lager
ABV: 5.0
1 of 5 burps
Just kinda gross. At least it’s not an IPA.
Much like the Kirin Ichiban Shibori, the best thing about this can was the view that happened to come with it. AJ and I managed to find a table in the observation deck of Tokyo Tower.
We got there at the perfect time to watch the sun set and the city light up. And being that it was the end of November, Christmas was much on display — including photos while being dressed like Santa.
Great spot for people-watching. Not so great for good-beer-drinking.
Tokyo Tower itself is a 1,000ish-foot-tall communications tower. It’s orange and white, so it’s like a mini Eiffel Tower dressed like a faded Santa. The Western influence also was evidenced in the name of the restaurant: Cafe la Tour.
While the tower was the tallest structure in town when we were there, it soon was to be outdone by the Tokyo Skytree, which opened in early 2012.
Tasted at: Cafe la Tour, Tokyo Tower, Shiba Park, Minato, Tokyo
