13.1 miles and no nuts

This year's Mini-Marathon medal was huge. Thumbs up on the much mellower T-shirt design.

The 2009 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is history, but my goal to break two hours is not. Despite ideal weather conditions — cool and overcast — I came home with a time of 2:05.48. Close but not quite the stogey I was hoping for. But that keeps me from having to decide if I’ll run it again after I break two hours.

Also on the up-side: I’m geekily pleased my 2010 bib number is a palindrome. And also as well on the additional up-side: This year, I didn’t punch any other runners in the nuts. Sorry again, dude from last year.

Some mad, mad, mad, mad props

Kudos to Lyle for not kicking my ass too horribly. I can’t believe you missed Ryden’s six-month checkup. Sheesh.

Kudos to Joe for keeping his promise of not going to join Elizabeth. We’ll find some CoolMax finery for The Elborbah to race in next year. Here’s to future stovage.

Kudos to AJ for starving a little bit more each week as he waited for me to finish running longer and longer miles before we ate dinner.

During the Mini, odds are you'll brush up against a few too many sweaty people ... just like yourself. And that guy behind me. PHOTO: Joe Soria, May 2, 2009
