Book Club

Some books lend themselves to group activities. Here, Brendan masterminds some bookreading with his sister Keira and great-great-grandma Doris.

Some Indianapolis Star colleagues have a small but steady book club that meets once a month. Choosing books is a democratic process that results in a variety of authors and topics that we wouldn’t necessarily have considered reading on our own. Some of our nominees come from other clubs’ book lists, so to pay that forward, here’s where we’re going and where we’ve been.

Brendan recommends books about bears or other furry creatures.

Time to plan for 2011

It might be only August, but it’s time to start collecting ideas for our 2011 list. Book club members can vote through the link you received by e-mail, or submit your recommendations here.

Suggest early. Suggest often.

At the September or October meeting, we’ll pick a cut-off date. Then I’ll set up an online voting form to complete prior to our December meeting. At that meeting, we’ll unveil the top 12 books and figure out when we’ll be reading what in 2011.

Keira went off the 2010 book list reservation to catch up with Elmo.
